Abstract

Abstract The oxazinoindoletrione (3) underwent reaction with aqueous ammonia in methanol or ethanol to yield the polycyclic methyl or ethyl esters (4) and (5) respectively. Reaction of trione (3) with gaseous ammonia in dry ethanol gave the aminobenzodiazepinone (7).
