Abstract

Highlights ► TUDCA inhibits the expression of ER stress markers in intestinal epithelial cells. ► TUDCA prohibits the activation of the unfolded protein response in these cells. ► UDCA but not taurine mediates the inhibitory effects of TUDCA. ► The hydrophobic parts of TUDCA prohibit the aggregation of denatured proteins.
