Abstract

Lanthanide (iii) salts have been used extensively to activate carbonyl compounds and imine derivatives for the 1, 2-addition of organometallic reagents.[1] Owing to the oxophilic nature of lanthanide salts, the 1, 2-addition reaction is favored over competitive reactions such as enolization and reduction (by β-hydride transfer).[2] The activity of the catalyst strongly depends on the drying procedure [3] and especially on its solubility.[4] Only few ...
