Abstract
Abstract Preparation of the sulfite derived from racemic and (R)−(+)-enantiomer of BINOL is reported. The crystal structure of the optically active, levorotatory sulfite isomer and its ring opening induced by nucleophilic substitution reactions with selected nucleophiles are presented.© 2011 Wiley Periodicals, Inc.
