Abstract
Unexpected large as well as small ESR-proton hyperfine coupling constants are explained by hyperconjugation in twisted π-systems. This type of hyperconjugation has been postulated by Mulliken for the 90° twisted ethylene. A method to prove this hypothesis is proposed and applied successfully till now-to unexpected large couplings. The borderline of this method is discussed in connection with an anion radical of an α, β-unsaturated nitro ...
