Abstract
The reaction between pseudo-1, 5-diaryl-2, 3-pyrrolidinediones (3-arylamino-5-aryl-2 (5H)- furanones) and aromatic amines may involve simple amine exchange or transformation to the enamine of a true 1, 5-diaryl-2, 3-pyrrolidinedione The product of the reaction betwcen o- phenylenediamine and either 3-phenylamino-5-phenyl-2 (5H)-furanone or benzylidenepyruvic acid is 2-phenyl-2, 3-dihydrofuro [2 3-blquinoxaline.
