Abstract
Recently, Newman, Fukunaga and Miwa have reported that the anion of diisopropylacetonitrile, on alkylation with isopropyl iodide, yields moderate amounts of ketenimine and that in the case of t-butylisopropylacetonitrile only ketenimine is obtaineds; they emphasized the importance of steric factors in controlling the ratio of carbon to nitrogen alkylation of nitriles.
