Hexahydroxybenzene, C6H606, was first pre- pared by Lerch2 from potassium carbonyl, KaCsOs. Nietzki and Benckiser3 obtained hexahydroxy- benzene by the action of a zinc chloride-hydro- chloric acid solution on triquinoyl. They fourid it difficult to separate hexahydroxybenzene, pre- pared from potassium carbonyl arid hydrochloric, acid, from its first oxidation product, tetrahy.- droxyquinori e.
