Abstract

The first successful synthesis of sulfonyl cyanides RSO, C= N, which we developed recently', requires sulfonyl-substituted phosphonium ylids for precursors. As is indicated in eq.[l], these phosphonium ylids 1 are converted to sulfonyl cyanides (3) by a Wittig-like cleavage of the intermediate nitroso derivative 2 of compound 1. la
