Abstract

HCSCCH~ Y (CH~), ZH 1 carboxylate [la, Y= 0, 2= C (C02Et) 2, n= 21md studied its reaction with sodium ethoxide in cthanol and potassium lert-butoxide in dimethyl sulfoxide. Rglinton and Whiting3 reported that it was possible to isolate l, l-dicarboethoxy-2-methyl~ necyclopentane (2) from the reaction of diethyl malonate, sodium ethoxide, and 4-pentynyl p- toluenesulfonate in refluxing ethanol, and they showed that the product arose by ...
