Abstract

A diastereoconvergent formal nucleophilic substitution of bromocyclopropanes with oxygen- and sulfur-based nucleophiles is described. The reaction proceeds via in situ formation of a highly reactive cyclopropene intermediate and subsequent diastereoselective addition of a nucleophile across the strained C C bond.
