用于合成药物先锋霉素等,也用于生产染料、合成树脂、溶剂等

噻吩存在于煤焦油和页岩油内,可利用粗苯洗涤产生的废酸作原料,在110-150℃水解,水解时生成的气体经水解精馏塔进入塔顶冷凝器,冷凝得到的精馏产物含噻吩约为15%-25%、二甲苯约50%-60%,还含苯、甲苯、甲基噻吩及一些未知物。每吨废酸约可提取10kg精馏产物。用固体氢氧化钠脱水后通过精馏精制,可得90%-95%含量的噻吩产品。化学合成噻吩,可用丁烷和硫为原料,丁烷先脱氢再与硫成环形成噻吩,在实验室制备中用1,4-二羰基化合物与三硫化二磷反应而得。
精制方法:一般的精制方法是将噻吩用稀盐酸、水分别洗涤后,氯化钙干燥,用90cm高的蒸馏塔进行蒸馏,可得纯度99%(mol)的制品。欲得高纯度产品可将工业噻吩用稀盐酸、氢氧化钠、蒸馏水分别洗涤,氯化钙干燥,再用柱高235cm,填有2.4mm不锈钢制的拉希环的蒸馏塔,在回流比为50:1的情况下进行常压蒸馏,收集中间馏分,分步结晶6次,然后在乙醇醋酸钠溶液中用氯化亚汞处理,所得之固体加盐酸加热回流,冷却后用戊烷萃取噻吩。戊烷溶液用氯化钙干燥后分馏,可得纯度很高的制品。
