【用途一】
主要应用于特种钢冶炼出钢口、滑板口及大型焚烧炉
【用途二】
用作催化剂、分析试剂
【用途三】
用作冶炼金属铬、碳化铬、制抛光膏和油漆颜料，也用作搪瓷、玻璃、陶瓷的着色剂和有机合成的催化剂
【用途四】
铅铬绿是涂料工业主要的着色颜料，绝大部分的绿色漆都是以这种颜料配制的。此外，也用于油漆及塑料。其应用范围同铅铬黄非常相似。因组成中含有铬黄，应用时注意其含铅的毒性。铅铬绿中含有铁蓝，并含有氧化剂铬酸铅，所以当粉尘遇上火星有自燃的可能，在干燥、粉碎时不可不慎。燃烧后的铅铬绿完全丧失绿颜料的特性，转变为深棕黄色的物质。此外，在制作硝基漆时，轧片工艺不直接用铅铬绿轧制，而以铅铬绿研浆后调入的工艺，以防在轧片时燃烧。
【用途五】
可用于陶瓷和搪瓷的着色，橡胶着色，配制耐高温涂料，美术用颜料，供配制印刷纸币及有价证券的油墨。氧化铬绿的色泽近似于植物的叶绿素，可用于伪装漆，能使红外摄影时难以分辨。也大量用于冶金，制作耐火材料，研磨粉。还可用作有机合成催化剂，是高级绿色颜料。
【用途六】
主要用于冶炼金属铬和碳化铬。用作搪瓷和陶瓷的釉药。人造革、建筑材料等的着色剂。用于制造耐晒涂料、研磨材料、绿色抛光膏及印刷钞票的专用油墨。用作有机合成的催化剂。是高级绿色颜料。
【用途七】
用作冶炼金属铬, 碳化铬, 制抛光膏和油漆颜料; 也用作搪瓷, 玻璃,有机及无机反应催化剂，折光材料，着色玻璃，磨料。

三氧化二铬制备

1.还原法，将99.5%重铬酸钾和98%硫黄按7：l的重量比混合后进行焙烧，生成氧化铬和硫酸钾。反应后的炉料先经湿磨，然后放人带搅拌器的洗涤槽中用热水洗涤，用压滤机将氧化铬滤出，得到含水量为30%～35%膏状滤饼，把滤饼在300℃进行干燥，经冷却、粉碎，制得氧化铬绿成品。其反应方程式如下：

洗涤液中含有大量硫酸钾、硫酸铬及六价铬等可溶性盐，通人硫化氢可将六价铬还原生成氢氧化铬沉淀，经过滤分出。滤液中加人盐酸，溶液经浓缩、结晶，副产氯化钾。
焙烧时放出的二氧化硫和三氧化硫气体，用稀氨水吸收，可副产硫酸铵。
2.热分解法，将99.5%铬酸酐在约1400℃温度下进行煅烧l～1.5h，生成氧化铬。冷却后，用高速粉碎机研磨，制得氧化铬绿成品。其反应方程式如下：

3.热分解氢氧化铬法，在铬酸钠热溶液中加入硫化钠溶液进行反应，生成氢氧化铬，经过滤，得到的氢氧化铬滤饼再经洗涤、离心脱水后，在约1400℃温度下进行焙烧，生成三氧化二铬，炉料经洗涤、干燥、粉碎，制得氧化铬成品。其反应方程式如下：

分离氢氧化铬所得碱液，经二氧化碳进行碳化后，可回收碳酸氢钠和硫代硫酸钠。此法制得的三氧化二铬色暗，不宜作颜料，主要用于冶炼金属铬及制抛光膏。

称量10mg左右经过重结晶提纯、干燥的重铬酸铵装到试管里，小心地直接用火缓慢加热、激烈分解，残留物为绿色的Cr₂O₃。因反应激烈、每次用量不宜过大。另外，试管口绝不能对着人。只有少量、缓慢加热才能保证安全。可以用同样的方法加热重铬酸钾和氯化铵的混合物，生成物用水充分洗涤。如将铬酸盐和重铬酸盐在还原剂共存时灼烧产物也得Cr₂O₃。

4.制法方法１．将研细的重铬酸钾与糖粉（按理论量配比）搅拌均匀，加入少量乙醇并点燃，进行还原反应，且十分激烈：

待反应物冷却后，用乙酸稀溶液浸提，然后洗涤沉淀至洗涤液呈淡黄色为止。甩干，120℃干燥后粉碎研细。

5.方法２．在粉状重铬酸铵中加入少量乙醇，点燃，重铬酸铵分解为三氧化二铬：

产品为绿色松散棉絮状的无定形粉末三氧化二铬。
6.将等重的氯化铵和重铬酸钾粉末混合均匀，加热到260℃以上使反应完全：

反应后的混合物用水充分洗涤，即得含水氧化铬的黑绿色结晶。
