由对硝基苯胺和苯甲酰氯缩合而得。将对硝基苯胺、苯甲酰氯和氯化锌加入反应罐内搅拌，加热使物料全部熔化。升温至140℃，保温30min。继续升温至200℃左右，保温反应2h，冷至115-120℃，搅拌水解15h。加入2.5倍稀盐酸，冷至35℃，过滤。滤饼用稀盐酸洗涤，滤干。加4倍量的水搅成糊状，加碱到pH为11，浸泡2-3h（浸泡过程中要补加碱，加碱到pH为11）。过滤，滤饼用水洗使pH为6-7。滤干，干燥得二苯酮粗品。加适量活性炭和10倍量的乙醇，加热回流4h。趁热过滤。滤液冷却结晶。甩滤，滤饼用冷乙醇洗涤，滤干，干燥即得。收率为25%。
