39% 700* C 61% also produced 6 as the sole observable product, but in 71% yield with 71% mass recovery. As the benzofuran ring system occurs frequently in nat~ re,~ we felt that this nucleus provided a worthy target to include in our program of silyl migrations on s- frameworks.
