The synthesis of the perchloro-9-phenylfluorenyl radical (PPF) from 9-phenylfluorene (1) has been accomplished through a chlorolytic aromatic perchlorination to aH-pentadecachloro-2- biphenylylphenylmethane(2) with BMC reagent, followed by a cyclization at 300 “C (91%).
