The investigation of the mechanism of antiviral action showed a general trend for (Ia-c): the compounds are activated in cells infected with herpes virus by the phosphorylation with viral thymidine kinase, and inhibit viral DNA-polymerase in the presence of triphosphates [8, 19, 22].
