Rubidium Carbonate serves as a critical precursor and functional material in advanced industries: Optical Crystals & Electro-Optic Materials: Primary source for growing high-performance crystals such as RbTiOPO₄ (RTP) for electro-optic modulation, Q-switches, and high-power lasers; RKTN perovskite NLO crystals; and deep-UV nonlinear optical crystals (e.g., Rb₂B₃O₃F₄OH) for frequency doubling and OPO in lasers, lithography, spectroscopy, and medical applications. Specialty Glass & Fiber Optics: Used in the production of specialty glass with unique optical/structural properties, including lithium silicate glass ceramics for dental applications and glass for fiber optic components and telecommunications. Energy & Batteries: Acts as a low-temperature fluxing/sintering agent in LFP cathode synthesis for extreme-climate lithium-ion batteries (EVs, grid storage). Also applied in magnetohydrodynamic (MHD) power generation. Catalysis: Effective promoter in chemical reactions, including higher alcohol synthesis (e.g., Fischer-Tropsch processes) and microwave-assisted single-atom carbon catalysts for energy conversion and environmental catalysis. Photovoltaics & Electronics: Interface modification in high-efficiency perovskite solar cells (passivation, defect reduction, improved stability). Also used in perovskite quantum dots and advanced electronic materials.
