易潮解。与碱共沸时分解为磷酸盐和钨酸盐。含水量一般是在9~17分子之间。加氯水后加热很容易使还原产物再被氧化。虽然磷钨酸在水中的溶解度很大,但它可以被乙醚完全从水溶液中萃取出来。它和乙醚形成一比重很大的液层,这是一个乙醚与磷钨酸的复合物,既不溶于乙醚也不溶于水,因而当以过量乙醚来萃取水溶液时形成了三个液层。除了极易溶于水和乙醚之外,磷钨酸还易溶于低元醇和酯中。

EMERGENCY OVERVIEW

Eye:
Causes eye burns. Contact may cause ulceration of the conjunctiva and cornea.

由钨酸钠溶液中加磷酸和盐酸酸化后,以乙醚萃取而得。采用Rosenheim与Jaenicke的方法,磷钨酸是很容易制备的。将1000g钨酸钠(Na2WO4·2H2O)与160g磷酸氢二钠(Na2HPO4·2H2O)溶解在1500mL沸水中。在恒定的搅拌下将800mL的浓盐酸逐滴地加入其中。当加入一半的酸时开始有磷钨酸分离出来。由于沉淀出来的酸必须加以纯制,所以并不需要将它过滤出来。溶液冷却后,加入不含还原剂的乙醚,直到经摇荡后混合物分成三个液层为止。这样大约需要600mL的乙醚。如果必要时,可以加入一些水来将氯化钠溶解掉。底下液层是磷钨酸乙醚复合物,加水洗涤数次,每次加入足够的乙醚使形成第三液层。然后在乙醚液层中通入洗涤过不含尘埃的空气,使之蒸发结晶。过滤后,令晶体空敞地放在空气中,但勿使与尘埃接触,直到它们不再有乙醚的气味,依钨酸钠计算产率约为80%。
