黄色固体,具吸湿性。溶于水,难溶于乙醇,不溶于吡啶。与DMF作用生成络合物Sm(CH3COO)3·DMF黄色固体,熔点137~140℃,真空加热至210℃,失去结晶水。与1,10-菲咯啉作用得到的络合物,加热至286~290℃分解。

4g氧化钐(Ⅲ)(Sm2O3)悬浮于200mL醋酸酐中,加热,此时溶液由黄白色变为黄色,生成物沉积于容器底部。继续回流至反应结束,约需6~10h。取出产物置于装有固体氢氧化钾和无水氯化钙的真空干燥器中干燥两天,然后放在阿布得哈顿干燥器中在100℃下干燥。
