【方法一】
磺化法生产苯酚的蒸馏残渣中约含40%的混位(对位和邻位)苯基苯酚,用分馏和在三氯乙烯中溶解度的不同,分离回收邻位产品。
将上述蒸馏残渣在53.3~66.7kPa的真空度下减压分馏,收集65~100℃馏分,即为混位苯基苯酚。将混位物加热溶解于三氯乙烯中,冷却后先析出对位苯基苯酚。离心过滤后,用碳酸钠溶液洗涤母液,使邻苯基苯酚成为钠盐,静置后取上层钠盐,经酸化后即得产品。

由二苯并呋喃与金属钠加热至约200℃,生成物用酸分解而得。
由2-氨基联苯经重氮化后水解而得。
【方法四】
从磺化法生产苯酚的副产物中得到邻苯基苯酚和对苯基苯酚的混合物,将其加热溶于三氯乙烯中,经冷却析出对位苯基苯酚结晶,经离心过滤,固体干燥得对苯基苯酚。母液用碳酸钠溶液洗涤后,加稀氢氧化钠中和,再酸化得邻苯基苯酚。
【方法五】
可由磺化法生产苯酚的蒸馏残渣中回收。苯酚的蒸馏残渣含苯基苯酚40%左右,其它成分为苯酚、无机盐、水等。经真空蒸馏,分离出混位苯基苯酚馏分段,真空度为53.3-66.7kPa,温度在65-75℃开始截取至100℃以上,但不得超过1345℃。再利用邻、对位羟基联苯在三氯乙烯中溶解度的不同,将二者分离为纯净物。将混合位物(主要2-羟基联苯和4-羟基联苯)加热溶解于三氯乙烯中,经冷却,先析出4-羟基联苯结晶,经离心过滤、干燥得至4-羟基联苯。母液用碳酸钠溶液洗涤,再加稀碱液使2-羟基联苯成盐。静置分层后,取上层2-羟基联苯钠盐减压脱水,即得钠盐成品。2-羟基联苯钠盐为白色至淡红色粉末。极易溶于水,在100g水中可溶122g,2%的水溶液pH为11.1-12.2。亦易溶于丙酮、甲醇,溶于甘油,但不溶于油脂。2-羟基联苯钠盐经酸化可制得2-羟基联苯,两者都是食品添加剂。
