Abstract

Functionalized pyrroles and 2-alkylidenepyrrolidines are present in a number of pharmacologically relevant natural and unnatural products and represent useful synthetic intermediates. 2-Alkylidenepyrrolidines have been used as key intermediates during the synthesis of mitomycin antitumor antibiotics possessing antibacterial activity. 1 Functionalized pyrroles are building blocks of natural tetrapyrrole pigments, 2 such as porphobilinogen or bilirubin, and various other natural products and ...
