Abstract

Abstract The anion derived from diphenylmethane (2 eq.) reacts with carboxylic esters and anhydrides (1 eq.) to form diphenylmethyl ketones in 55–75% purified yields. The procedure is one-step and permits the introduction of functionality incompatible with conditions used in earlier syntheses.
