Product Information
Sulfolane, also known as tetrahydrothiophene-1,1-dioxide, with the chemical formula C4H8O2S, is a colorless and transparent liquid. It is an excellent non proton polar solvent that is miscible with water, acetone, toluene, and other substances. It is also an ideal solvent for aromatic hydrocarbon extraction processes in the petrochemical industry. Sulfolane is prone to decomposition at high temperatures. When the temperature is below 220 ℃, the decomposition rate is relatively slow, but when it exceeds 220 ℃, the decomposition rate increases sharply with the increase of temperature. Excessive temperature will promote the decomposition of sulfolane into black polymers and sulfur dioxide. When there is air present, due to the oxidation effect of air, the release of sulfur dioxide in the solvent system is greater than when there is no air present.
