Abstract
Thermal dissociation of carbamates to isocyanates and alcohols is difficult and requires temperatures above 250'. The lower N-alkylcarbamates, which distil without decomposition under atmospheric pressure, must therefore be cracked in vapor phase operation. 2 The requisite temperatures for liquid phase cleavage can be attained by the distillation of esters of high boiling alcohols. 2 Although Raney nickel effects the cleavage of urethans, it has ...
