Abstract

In a recent publication4 3, 5-di-t-butyl-4-hydroxy-benzaldehyde (I) was reported as the principal product of the reaction between bromine and 2, 5-di-t-butyl-4-methyl-4-t- butylperoxy-2, 5-cyclohexa-dienone in acetic acid. Efforts to synthesize this aromatic aldehyde by the usual methods proved unsuccessful.
