Abstract

Abstract Karanjin isolated in gram scale from Pongamia pinnata was subjected to transformation reactions and 11 analogues were prepared and evaluated for their antihyperglycemic activity in streptozotocin-induced diabetic rats, and compared with the standard drug metformin at the dose of 100 mg/kg body weight. Four derivatives showed comparable activity with metformin.
