Abstract

Methyl vinyl sulfone undergoes a Michael type condensation with a variety of compounds containing active methylene groups. Diethyl malonate, ethyl acetoacetate, ethyl cyanoacetate, benzyl cyanide, acetylacetone and bis-(methanesulfony1)-methane are disulfonethylated.
