Abstract

The mono-and dialkylpyrrolidinetriones have been formulated as hydroxymaleimides. However, the enolic form of trialkylpyrrolidinetriones (11) is not possible. Since a search of the literature failed to reveal any trialkylpyrrolidinetriones, it seemed desirable to synthesize representative types for the purpose of observing their infrared absorption, color, stability and pharmacological behavior.
