Abstract
The hexyloxy compound was oxidized" to the known 4-n-hexyloxybenzoic a ~ id . 2 ~ 8- (4 -n -Hexylbenzoyl) -propionic Acid .-This compound was prepared in the same manner as the majority of the aroylacrylic acids. The compound was oxidized'' to the known 4-n-hexylbenzoic acid. Reaction Product of 8-Benzoylacrylic Acid with Cys- teine.-Three grams (0.017 mole) of P-benzoylacrylic acid was dissolved in 12 ml. of water and the solution ad- justed to pH 7 with aqueous ...
