Abstract Analogs of the antiviral 9-(S)-(3-hydroxy-2-phosphonylmethoxypropyl) adenine (HPMPA, I), containing modified heterocyclic base, were prepared from racemic or (S)-N-(2, 3-dihydroxypropyl) derivatives II.
