Abstract

Summary 1. The action of molecular oxygen on diisobutylene in the presence of potassium hydroxide has been studied at 100'and 100 lb. per sq. in. pressure. The course of the reaction was followed by noting the drop in pressure in the bomb. Under the aforementioned conditions diisobutylene has an induction period of ninety to one hundred and twenty minutes. The reaction is essentially complete after eight hours. 2.
