Abstract
Perchloric acid as a catalyst isomerizes 1-and 2-monoglycerides in chloroform solution to an equilibrium mixture containing about 90% 1-monoglyceride. 2-Monoglycerides do not react with periodic acid commonly used for the determinatiod of monoglycerides; however, by application of the periodate analysis before and after perchloric acid isomerizatiori, it is passible to determine 1-monoglycerides and total monoglycerides present in a mixture ...
