Abstract
We have recently developed a smooth reductive transformation of A2-isoxazolines to@- hydroxy ketones via Raney nickel catalyzed hydrogenolysis to the@-hydroxy imine followed by rapid imine hydrolysis. 8 Central to the success of this reaction was the employment of boric acid to promote hydrolysis of the@-hydroxy imine prior to undesired side reactions including overreduction, epimerization, and retro-Aldol reaction. 8a. b Subjection of ...
