Abstract

Results in Table 1 indicate that toluene and its substituted derivatives carrying both electron-withdrawing and electron-donating groups converted to corresponding aldehydes in good to excellent yields (Entries 1–10). Further oxidation of aldehydes to their carboxylic acids was not observed.
