Abstract

4a (4b) 4 9 several olefins which are unreactive with 1,+ dihydropyridines in the dark at room temperat~ re~-~ can be reduced by l-benzyl-1, 4-dihydronicotinamide (BNAH) upon selective photoexcitation of Ru (bpy):+(bpy= 2, 2'-bipyridine) and that the photomediated two- electron reduction proceeds by way of sequential electron transfer.
