Abstract
Recently Barton et al. reported a series of phenylations utilizing pentavalent Bi-aryl compounds including Bi-(C6H5) 5, indicating the uniqueness of the weak bonding of hypervalent bismuth compounds. l However, systematic studies for the preparation, structure, and reactivity of 10-Bi-5 type hypervalent organobismuth compounds have not been carried out mostly because of the instability of those compounds. 2 Especially, the ...
