由溴丁烷与氰化钠制得。将氰化钠加水在水浴上加热溶解，然后加入一定量的95%工业乙醇和溴丁烷回流25-30h，冷却至常温，滤去溴化钠，将滤液用高效分馏柱进行分馏。在78-85℃蒸出酒精，收集85-140℃馏分并用氯化铵处理该馏分，使其分为两层，取上层液体再次进行分馏，收集138-141℃馏分即为成品。
