十六醇制备
1.该品最早由鲸蜡水解得到的。工业上可由油脂还原，或用硼氢化钠还原十六酰氯制得。
2.由鲸蜡水解得到十六酸后再还原，或用油脂直接还原。也可以用硼氢化钠还原十六酰氯制得。
3.以油脂为原料，经高压加氢或用金属钠还原法制取。
4.将甲苯和金属钠共热至金属钠完全熔化，停止加热，快速搅拌至钠呈散砂状并使温度降至60℃。然后加入十六酸乙酯的无水乙醇溶液 （ 每摩尔十六酸乙酯加无水乙醇300ml） ，接着，再加相等量的无水乙醇，控制加料速度，以高效回流冷凝器内全回流为宜。
反应式为：
当反应平稳后，油浴加热回流至钠完全溶尽。然后用水蒸气蒸馏除去甲苯和乙醇，剩余物用热水洗涤三次，再用乙醚分别萃取冷却后的油状物和水洗液，抽得醚层依次用水、碳酸钠溶液、水洗涤，并用硫酸镁干燥脱水，蒸去乙醚，最后，进行减压蒸馏，控制压力为1600Pa，收集178～182℃馏分，即为成品。
5.采用皂化法和还原法。皂化法以软脂酸鲸蜡酯为原料,用氢氧化钠皂化而得。还原法以棕榈酸为原料,进行还原反应而得。
