2. 甲苯氧化法 苯甲酸可由邻苯二甲酸酐水解、脱羧制得;亦可由甲苯氧化、水解制得;还可直接由甲液相氧化制得。苯甲酸再经Na2CO3中和即成钠盐。甲苯氧化法的反应式如下:
①甲苯氧化 将甲苯2200kg、萘酸钴2.2kg用泵送入氧化塔内(铝质,700mm×8000mm),通夹套蒸汽加热到120℃,此时甲苯沸腾。这时启动6.0m3的空压机,压缩空气经缓冲罐自塔的底部进入甲苯溶液中,发生氧化反应。该氧化反应是放热的,所以反应温度不断上升,但最高不能超过170℃。
因此中途塔夹套不仅要停止加热,而且要切换通水冷却。氧化反应时有大量甲苯蒸气及水蒸气从塔顶排出,进入20m2的蛇管冷凝器,冷凝成液体再进入分水器,甲苯由分水器上部返回氧化塔,水从分水器下部分出,然后进入计量槽。分水器上盖有尾气排出管,尾气经排出管至缓冲罐进入活性炭吸收塔,以吸附其中的甲苯。定时向塔内直接通蒸汽,以解吸被吸附的甲苯,后者经冷凝、分水、干燥后回收再用。甲苯在170℃氧化时间约12~16h,甲苯转化率可达70%以上。
②脱苯 氧化液放入脱苯釜(1500L,带夹套),在0.08MPa真空下通夹套蒸汽加热至100~110℃,用压缩空气鼓泡的办法将未反应的甲苯蒸出,进入10m2的冷凝器,冷凝液进入分水器回收再用。
③蒸馏 脱苯后的苯甲酸还含有杂质及有机色素,需再进行蒸馏。将料液放入蒸馏釜(搪瓷或不锈钢),加热并控制料液温度为190℃,苯甲酸便蒸出而进入蒸馏塔(270mm×6000mm,有7块塔板),控制塔顶温度为160℃,馏出物经套管冷却进入中和釜,便得到纯净的苯甲酸。
④中和 苯甲酸进入中和釜后,及时加入预先配好的纯碱溶液中和(300L蒸馏水加纯碱140kg,可中和苯甲酸200kg左右)。中和温度以70℃为宜,中和物料以pH值7.5为终点。为除杂色,按中和物料3%加入活性炭脱色,然后通过真空吸滤,即得无色透明的苯甲酸钠溶液(含量50%)。
⑤干燥 将苯甲酸钠溶液经滚筒干燥,或箱式喷雾干燥即成粉状成品。
3.苯甲酸甲酯与NaOH溶液反应制备 将减压精馏制得的苯甲酸甲酯加入四口烧瓶中,恒温水浴加热并控制温度,开启搅拌器,达到设定反应温度后用分液漏斗滴加一定浓度的NaOH溶液,生成甲醇及时蒸出,皂化反应制得苯甲酸钠溶液或糊状物。测定反应液的pH值以控制反应终点,pH=8时结束反应。对制得的苯甲酸钠直接真空干燥并粉碎,得到苯甲酸钠固体,分析苯甲酸钠质量指标,考察不同的NaOH浓度及不同的反应温度对皂化反应的影响。
