1.薄荷醇可有天然薄荷原油提纯也可用合成法制的。唇形科植物薄荷的地上部分(茎枝叶和花序)经水蒸气蒸馏所得的精油称为薄荷原油,得油率为0.5-0.6.合成薄荷脑的方法很多种。

2. 烟草:FC,18;OR,41。合成:由薄荷油中经冷却、结晶、分离所得的是左旋薄荷脑。半合成法制取(+)-薄荷脑,系采用蒸馏香茅油获得的香茅醛,或是自桉树油中获得的胡椒酮为原料的。
