【用途一】
用作溶剂，也用作制取二氢呋喃、赖氨酸等的原料，其酯类用作增塑剂
【用途二】
用作溶剂，也用于橡胶、染料工业
【用途三】
GB 2760--1996规定为允许使用的食用香料。
【用途四】
用于制备丁二酸、戊二醇、四氢呋喃、吡喃等，也用作涂料、树脂和油脂的溶剂。在印染工业中用作润滑剂、分散剂，药品的脱色、脱臭剂，还用作增塑剂、除草剂、杀虫剂等有机合成的原料。四氢糠醇溴化得到四氢呋喃甲基溴，经硫代硫酸钠置换制得四氢呋喃甲基硫代硫酸钠。是长效维生素B1（呋喃硫胺）的原料。
【用途五】
树脂和油类的溶剂。染料和橡胶的氧化。制造酯类。明胶溶液稳定剂。印染工业润湿剂。分散剂。某些药物的脱色除臭剂。
