The reactions of cyanomethyl methacrylate, a representative of α, β-unsaturated esters, with other secondary amines were examined under the same reaction conditions. The results given in Table 1 show that in all cases the corresponding cyanomethyl amines were the only products and that their yields were approximately proportional to the basicities of the starting amines, except for highly hindered amines.
