Abstract

The coupling action of the Grignard reagent on halogen compounds involves the linking of the radicals of the reagent as well as those of the compound upon which the reagent reacts. It has been observed in a large number of cases and is especially pronounced in connection with compounds containing the aryl halomethyl grouping, ArCX.
