Use of Taurohyodeoxycholic acid sodium salt hydrateTaurohyodeoxycholic acid sodium is the taurine-conjugated form of the secondary bile acid hyodeoxycholic acid. 1 THDCA reduces the size and weight of human gallstones in vitro. It increases bile flow, bile cholesterol secretion and bile lipid secretion in rats. 2 Co-administration of THDCA and taurochenodeoxycholic acid prevented TCDCA-induced hepatotoxicity and increased bile flow and bile acid and phospholipid secretion in rats. 3 THDCA can also reduce the activity and expression of myeloperoxidase TNF-α and IL-6, as well as colonic damage in TNBS-induced ulcerative colitis mouse model. 41.
