In Vitro | γ-Tocopherol (D-γ-Tocopherol) is well absorbed and accumulates to a significant degree in some human tissues; it is metabolized, however, largely to 2,7,8-trimethyl-2-(beta-carboxyethyl)-6-hydroxychroman (gamma-CEHC), which is mainly excreted in the urine[1]. Plasma concentrations of γ-Tocopherol (D-γ-Tocopherol) are inversely associated with the incidence of cardiovascular disease and prostate cancer[1]. |

Accumulation of γ- rather than α-tocopherol alters ethylene signaling gene expression in the vte4 mutant of Arabidopsis thaliana.
Plant Cell Physiol. 52 , 1389-1400, (2011) Tocopherols are antioxidants found in chloroplasts of leaves, and it is a matter of current debate whether or not they can affect signaling and gene expression in plant cells. For insight into the pos... |
