由苯酚；环氧氯丙烷在氢氧化钠存在下缩合而得。将苯酚；氢氧化钠；混合搅拌至全部溶解，冷却至5-6℃，缓缓加入环氧氯丙烷。加毕，于25℃搅拌45h，反应物用乙醚提取，提取液加无水碳酸钾干燥，过滤。滤液回收乙醚，经减压蒸馏，收集120-123℃（1.46kPa）馏分即为环氧丙基苯基醚。
