Abstract

Evidence for the structure of XVI was its hydrolysis to 1, l-dimethyl-lp-nitrobenzylhydrazo- nium chloride (XIII). An attempt to prepare 1, l-dimethyl-lp-nitrobenzylaminimide from 1, l- dimethyl-1-+ nitrobenzylhydrazonium chloride (XIII) by treatment of the latter with sodium methoxide in methanol gave dimethyl-p-nitrobenzylamine.
