A potent, brain penetrant, dual MAO-A and AChE inhibitor that shows neuroprotective effects both in vitro and in vivo; inhibits H2O2-induced neurotoxicity in human neuroblastoma SH-SY5Y cells, and antagonizes scopolamine-induced memory and cognitive impairments in mice; upregulates mRNA expression levels of Bcl-2, the neurotrophic factors and the anti-inflammatory cytokine, Ntrk, and down-regulates the mRNA expression levels of IL-6 in scopolamine-induced mice.
