Orellanine is a fungal nephrotoxin. Orellanine is also a competitive inhibitor of alkaline phosphatase. Orellanine induces cell death in proximal tubular cells and in ccRCC cells. Orellanine can be used for research of clear cell renal cell carcinoma (ccRCC)[1][2].
